Santa Cruz has recently become my family’s go-to place for jogging. The weather is usually very pleasant and the salty air from the ocean is so refreshing when I am on the ocean side trail that that goes along the shore from Santa Cruz Boardwalk to the Tri state beach. Most of the time, we see a lot of surfers in the ocean. When the waves are big, you can spend hours looking at them go out into sea and wash up right before the shore.
One such day, only recently, we went to Santa Cruz and were surprised by the view. There were hundreds of surfers in the ocean. People in bodysuits were everywhere. On one of the shores off a cliff, a place that is usually has calmer waves, we saw about 20-30 surfers. There were a few surfers who had chairs on their board. I thought, “Why is there a chair on the board?” And on this chair was a person. The person didn’t ever get up or sit the chair at all. It seemed as if he couldn’t move. The surfer and person in the chair were in pretty deep water and the surfer was making sure that board is balanced. Even though we were at quite some distance, I could just tell that the guy on the chair was very happy and was having tons of fun.
People like these make all the difference in the world. At the end of the day, it is moments like these when you make other feel happy that counts.
